IGP Haute-Vallee de l'Aude

It is located around the town of Limoux, on either side of the Aude valley, between the Corbières massif to the east and the Razès and Quercorb to the west, upstream from Carcassonne

Geology

The vine is planted on three types of soils: – detrital molasse soils, very heterogeneous and eroded; – limestone and clay soils of the Sparnacian, rich in red clay; – ancient alluvial soils, in a plateau position.

Climate

The production area is located at the meeting point between the oceanic influence from the west, and the Mediterranean influence from the east. In addition, the vines are subject to the effects of altitude, especially in the south of the area where some plantings are located at an altitude of nearly 500 meters

Varietals

The red varietals used for red, rosé and gray wines are N cabernet-sauvignon, N cabernet-franc, N côt, N merlot, N pinot meunier, N pinot gris, pinot noir and N syrah. The white grape varieties used are chardonnay B, chenin B, pinot blanc B, pinot gris G, sauvignon B and viognier B
