A village that has become a legend

Perched on its hill in the heart of the Haute Vallée de l’Aude, the small village of Rennes-le-Château offers an impressive panoramic view.The history of the village is rich. This site occupied for centuries, has not yet revealed any of its mysteries… The village is monally known for its amazing story of Bérenger Saunière, a modest country priest who forever transformed the destiny of this small, uneventful commune. In 2003 American author Dan Brown drew inspiration from the legend in his bestseller “Da Vinci Code“.

Since 2015, the village has hosted an international film festival in August called the Unusual Film Festival.

The domain of Abbé Saunière, a village known throughout the world thanks to its parish priest, Abbé Béranger François Saunière, who left many constructions and enigmas in the village, which still inspire authors and researchers from all over the world. The Church dedicated to Saint Mary Magdalene, the Villa Bethany, the Magdala Tower and the Glass Tower, all topped by a magnificent viewpoint.
