the destination Limoux, Vineyard of History and Legend

Nestled in the Aude Valley, in the heart of the Razès region, the Limouxin is renowned for the production of a sparkling wine made according to the traditional method since the 16th century, the Blanquette de Limoux.

Composed of 7000 hectares of vineyards in the heart of a basin of preserved nature, with a majority of winegrowers having made the reasoned or organic culture, the Limouxin territory is an unavoidable wine tourism destination for wine lovers. With its numerous and diverse events, the Limouxin is a festive territory combining gastronomy and art of living. All the villages offer events to promote our local products and our know-how. Located at the gateway to the Pyrenees, the Limoux vineyard is a high-altitude vineyard (between 2050 and 500 meters above sea level), essentially located on hillsides, which provides the freshness necessary for the production of sparkling and still wines. The diversity of appellations is a wealth for the destination.

The production of AOC represents an annual average of 90,000 hectoliters, of which 80% are sparkling and 20% are still.

The“Vignobles & Découvertes” label, created in 2009 and granted by Atout France, brings together quality services in diversified fields of activity: wine cellars, accommodations, restaurants, leisure activities, animations… gathered around the same passion: to make known and recognize our know-how around the wine heritage.

The wine tourism destination “Limoux, Vignoble d’Histoire et de Légende” thus has more than 70 committed partner service providers who contribute to building a sustainable future in terms of tourism and wine.

All of them are signatories to a set of specifications guaranteeing true quality and commitment.
