Saint-Polycarpe

The commune of Saint-Polycarpe is located on the Méridienne verte. The stream of Saint-Polycarpe runs through it, a tributary of the Aude 7 km from Limoux. The village owes its origin to a monastery founded in the 8th century by Athala, a Spanish nobleman who became the first abbot. Of the ancient abbey only the abbey church, which became a parish church, and a remarkable medieval aqueduct remain today.
