Festes and Saint-Andre

The commune of Festes and Saint André is the meeting of the communes of Festes, Cazal, Saint André and Besse under Napoleon III. Because of this, it presents an exceptionally large territory, from altitudes of 350 meters going up to 700 meters for the pass of Festes, giving access to the borders of the Ariège and the Pyrenees chain. The castle of Festes dating from the thirteenth century, remodeled several times and enjoying a good exposure at the entrance of the village of Festes is privately owned.

to do

Church of Festes dating from 1667, offers interesting acoustics that allow annual concerts, it has a period tabernacle of carved wood and painted in a naive style.

Church of St. Andrew of more modest size, surrounded by the cemetery, adorned with an elaborate wooden tabernacle made by Monsieur le curé, a skilled cabinetmaker, in the 1800s.

The ridge paths are in the continuity of the hiking routes, starting in the middle valley from the town of Limoux. They cross white oak forests many times.
