Bugarach

At the foot of the famous Pech de Bugarach, the highest point of the Corbières with its 1231 meters with panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea, Perpignan, the Pyrenees and the Corbières, the village of Bugarach is located in the Aude region, 8 km from the spa town of Rennes Les Bains. The site of Bugarach benefits from an image of calm, serenity and preserved nature that has long attracted tourists and new inhabitants. Agriculture is still very present in the landscape, allowing the maintenance of an open environment favorable to well-being. In the heart of a region where mysticism and esotericism are developing, it is the object of many fables, myths, rumors or elucubrations of the most far-fetched.

The Roman bridge with a circular arch, located on the Roman road linking Rennes les bains to Bugarach is between Bugarach and the hamlet of La Vialasse. It allows to cross the gorges of the Blanque, a river which comes down from the Pech de Bugarach.

Placed on the Cathar Trail (GR36),the Peak offers a relatively easy access to its summit through the Linas pass from the parking area created a few years ago and a little more difficult access through the “window passage”
